Title: Research Analyst
Firm: Mulit-billion distressed / event-driven HF
Location: NYC
Compensation: $200k salary + bonus
Responsibilities:
- Conduct deep fundamental analysis on companies experiencing financial distress, restructuring, or complex corporate events.
- Build detailed financial and restructuring models, including liquidity analysis, recovery scenarios, and valuation across the capital structure.
- Analyze legal and structural considerations such as credit agreements, bond indentures, intercreditor agreements, and bankruptcy processes.
- Evaluate investment opportunities related to restructurings, liability management transactions, recapitalizations, and event-driven situations.
- Prepare investment memos and trade recommendations for the portfolio manager and investment committee.
- Monitor existing portfolio positions, track catalysts, and update valuation and recovery analyses as situations evolve.
- Work closely with legal advisors, restructuring professionals, and industry experts to assess outcomes in complex situations.
Qualifications
- Bachelors degree from top university
- 4-8 years of prior work experience with a preference for some buy-side stressed / distressed / specials situation experience
- Attention to detail
- Self-starter with the ability to work independently as well as within a team
