Title: Valuation Associate
Firm: $15+bn AlA
Location: Greenwich, CT 5 days per week
Compensation: $150-200k salary + bonus
Role Responsibilities:
Portfolio Valuations
- Prepare quarterly and annual fair value analyses for private equity investments
- Apply appropriate valuation methodologies (DCF, trading comps, transaction comps, LBO analysis, NAV, etc.)
- Assess enterprise value, equity value, and waterfall allocations
- Evaluate control premiums, liquidity discounts, and other valuation adjustments
Financial Modeling & Analysis
- Build and maintain detailed financial models
- Perform sensitivity analyses and scenario testing
- Analyze capital structures, debt instruments, and equity securities
- Review operating forecasts and challenge management assumptions
Audit & Compliance
- Support third-party valuation reviews and external audits
- Document methodologies, assumptions, and supporting evidence
- Ensure compliance with GAAP internal valuation policies
- Maintain valuation memos and audit-ready workpapers
Market & Industry Research
- Conduct comparable company and transaction research
- Monitor industry trends, macroeconomic indicators, and capital markets
- Update market multiples and benchmark performance
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Partner with investment professionals on deal underwriting and exit analysis
- Organize and manage fair value and pricing committee meetings.
- Coordinate with fund accounting and finance teams
- Assist investor relations with valuation-related inquiries
- Support ad hoc analyses for portfolio reviews and investment committee meetings
Qualifications:
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field CPA, CFA, or progress toward certification preferred
Experience
- 3–6 years of experience in valuation, investment banking, transaction advisory, or private equity
- Experience valuing illiquid securities and complex capital structures
- Exposure to private equity portfolio reporting preferred
Technical Skills
- Advanced Excel and financial modeling skills
- Strong understanding of valuation methodologies and accounting standards
- Familiarity with data platforms (e.g., Markit, Bloomberg, IDC)
- Experience with waterfall models and option pricing techniques a plus
